Zatonie Square
Zatonie Square.
The name Zatonie (formerly Günthersdorf) refers to the town adjoining to the south of Zielona Góra (formerly Grünberg), an estate inherited by the duchess as a dowry and dowry, from her father Peter Biron. Duchess Dorothea Talleyrand-Périgord arrived from France to Prussia in eighteen thirty-nine after the death of her eldest sister Wilhelmina to settle property matters. From June eighteen forty to eighteen forty-four, Duchess Dorothea lived in the palace and created a garden with a romantic park. After her death in eighteen sixty-two, her younger son Alexander Edmund inherited the Zatonie estate and the title of Dino. The lithograph on the board depicts the palace in Zatonie and its surroundings. It was a place dear to her heart, to which she always gladly returned. Another important place related to Duchess Dorothea's stay in France is Valançay Square.
