Clara's Cottage

The easternmost place with a view of the dammed Bóbr. Clara's Cottage was built during the reign of Duchess Wilhelmina (one thousand eight hundred to one thousand eight hundred and thirty-nine) and in the times of Duchess Dorota it was rebuilt as a non-durable wooden structure, circular in plan with windows of multi-colored stained glass. The cottage served as a tea house and a place for rest, admiration of views, and contemplation. It was destroyed due to a flood in the year one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven. Partially rebuilt in an open form as a gazebo, it no longer exists today. The place is forested and paths lead towards the Bóbr escarpment from where the Votive Cross would be visible, commemorating Duchess Dorota's return from her travels around Europe in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty-one, and the Royal Bridge built on the Rear Bóbr, which no longer exists today, but played an important role connecting the railway station with the palace. A place especially dear to the heart of Duchess Wilhelmina, reminding her of her protégée Clara Bressler.
