Turquoise Hall

Between the years two thousand seven and two thousand thirteen, another renovation of the building was carried out. The roof was renovated, worn-out window joinery was replaced, the crystal hall was renovated, and the palace park was revitalized. The project was co-financed from European Union funds. In two thousand nineteen, further works were carried out to restore the historical character of part of the eastern wing.

The princely family often organized social gatherings, an element of which were hunting expeditions in the surrounding forests. Among others, Count Hochberg, Prince of Pszczyna (father-in-law of the well-known Princess Daisy of Książ), frequently visited Żagań to indulge in hunting. This is where hunting trophies were displayed.

Continuing this tradition, for several years now, hunters from the entire hunting district have been organizing the Grand Hunt in the Żagań Forest. Each festival begins with a Hubertus Mass followed by a parade of hunters with the flags of hunting circles. The event is accompanied by a number of thematic attractions and exhibitions.

The trophies that currently adorn the walls of the Hunting Hall are gifts from hunting circles and the Żagań forestry, giving this place a unique character, referring to the original decoration of the Courland eastern wing. The exhibition is supplemented by gouaches that show the appearance of the corridor from the mid-nineteenth century.

At the end of the corridor tract, on the right side, on the ceiling, there is a remnant of spiral stairs that were at both of its ends. Before the entrance to the chapel, a fragment of the original floor has been preserved.
